Respect the Specs

Watch out for performance claims that have *asterisks* — performance data provided by motor manufacturers is NOT the same as performance data for the finished product. Housing design can significantly degrade airflow and place unwanted back pressure on the motor’s bearings. Don’t be misled by marketing hype about stators and laminar flow-only use products that have reliable performance data from a trusted source. ZOO Fans – no asterisks and no surprises!

The thermal images in this video are from a CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) computer model of a model H30 ZOO Fan mounted one foot below the flat ceiling of a 40’ x 40’ x 25’ high space with a ceiling-mounted heat source and a thermostat affixed 5’ above the floor, set at 70°F. The first images depict the stratification that occurs in such a heated space. Then the ZOO Fan is turned on and the simulation shows how the conditioned air is mixed until, at the end, its temperature is close to uniform throughout. The HVAC system runs less to maintain thermal comfort.
